Walk On The Wild Side

Don't be fooled by these photos. We still have plenty of snow on the ground, these are just old. I'm kind of glad I save old outfits because this weekend my poor little camera lens died. I thought it might make it and would be forever difficult, but then it completely stopped focusing. It oddly enough can still take close-ups, but overall the focus ring is shot. Sad day weekend! I'm just very thankful that only the lens died and not the camera. I can try to save up for a new lens! (I figure it's about 13 hours of babysitting for 3 kids. I measure all my purchases by how much babysitting it would be. Go figure!)

Other than that doom and gloom - I can say I felt pretty awesome the day I wore this outfit out and about! I thrifted this shirt on a whim and am totally enthralled by the color and perfect fit. The only thing I would change about this whole look is the boots. I have the perfect pair in mind, but they cost about 7 hours of babysitting. That means if I'm not doing any babysitting right now then I'm totally 0 hours a week. *womp womp*

Before I end this, I totally have got to say THANK YOU for the positive feedback on my first blog video. The next chance I get to make another video, I totally will. Don't bloggers usually make a Q&A one? Hmm.. that is definitely something I will keep in mind. :)

Outfit details - Teal button down, $1.50 (thrifted) - Leopard print cardigan, $3 (thrifted) - Necklace, $1 (Bargain Depot old) - Jeans, $15 (Wal-Mart.. SO comfy! A must buy) - Wool hat, $7 (Shop-Ko) - Ring, $2 (K-Mart) - Boots, $10 (Wal-Mart old)
P.S. The total cost of this outfit is about 8 hours of babysitting for 3 kids. ;)

What's My Line?

What's my line? Lines.. striped clothes.. get it?! haha

I actually know my lines, er, clothes quite well! A lot of this look was thrifted and I like to think that wearing thrifted clothes gives me better luck when I'm shopping. Yesterday, after a series of events, I ended up at the Goodwill $1 day. Today, I thought it would be fun to let a video show you what I scored rather than pictures. This is my first video for my blog so I hope you enjoy! I'll just end with that because I actually have fancy dinner plans tonight with my family. Farewell!

Outfit details - Striped dress, $7 (thrifted) - Vest, $1 (thrifted) - Scarf, cut from a dress - Jeggings, $20 (Wal-Mart old) - Key Necklace, $1 (Bargain Depot) - Purse, $4 (recently thrifted) - Boots, $15 (K-Mart old)

High Notes

In the past few days, my mom and I have discovered the show Hoarding: Buried Alive. It has definitely created some cleaning motivation in our household. My mom is a neat freak, but I on the other hand.. am a pack rat.
The past few days I have been doing lots of cleaning! I can actually see the back of my closet and the top of my dresser. Those are huge improvements for me!
This little jacket is something I came across in my closet. I wouldn't say it's been forgotten, I've just been holding onto it waiting for the right outfit to wear it with. That's weird, right? I searched forever for the perfect military inspired jacket - bought it - and just kept it in the back of my closet.

I have made some big steps in the last year. Each month I get rid of a big box or two of my old stuff that gets donated to a thrift store. I think what stumps me most when cleaning is when I have a large stack of papers. I can easily hold onto something if it holds a sentimental value, you know? Everything else (ie, clothes, knick knacks, etc) means very little to me.

Hopefully if I get a lot done now, I won't have to do any spring cleaning! ;)

Outfit details - Striped top, $7.99 (sizeappeal.com old) - Jacket, $4 (thrifted) - Scarf, swapped - Hat, from my house - Jeans, $12.50 (F21 old) - Boots, $15 (K-Mart old) - Gloves, Christmas presents from years ago

True Colors

I've noticed a trend in my weekend wear lately - lots of colors! I don't hate it. :)

My colorful garb accompanied me inside my house all weekend. It snowed a whole lot and the roads were icky as you might imagine. I just brainstormed some new jewelry ideas, played video games with my sister (shocker!), watched Ghost Adventures using our handy dandy Wii, and cleaned! No weekend is complete without some cleaning, right?!

Oh and speaking of weekends. Last weekend I updated my Etsy shop and added some adorable vintage aprons, as well as a few other things. You're totally welcome to check it out and see if there is anything you'd like to give a new home. (I would love that!)

Retro Snow

I've been wanting to "winter-ize" this outfit for quite awhile. Sure enough, I wait until it snows. I love vintage clothes as much as the next girl, but looking completely like I was ripped from the pages of a 1950's catalog isn't exactly "me". I think a lot more of personality was added to it because of this leopard print cardigan.
Any cool tips that you use to bring vintage pieces into the modern age?

In other non-clothing related news - My mom and I put our DIY skills to work this morning and made a shower in our bathroom! My dad is going to fix up one in the basement soon, but we couldn't wait. To see it in [almost] it's full glory, check it out here! It's totally redneck style - but I'm excited to have it! (remember this? that's why this is important and exciting to me. lol)

Happy weekend, friends! :)

Outfit details - Tights, $5.50 (Wal-Mart) - Unseen flats, $7 (Dollar General old) - Necklace, gift - Everything else thrifted for under $5
Umm... are Uggs vintage?

Stylish Snail Mail

I was pretty excited yesterday for a couple reasons. 1) It was snowing. And snow is in the forecast all week! 2) I got some pretty awesome snail mail. One is a gift certificate for jewelry, that I won. And the other was a little more special.
A couple weeks ago, a chain of e-mails were passed back and forth between myself and Dani @ DIY Fatshion. We set out to trade some clothes. Yesterday, I got a big ol' package of clothes and a few extra goodies (like this adorable scarf!) Through these e-mails, Dani and I got to know each other a little better and found out that we're pretty much style soul mates! But enough gushing - if you're here and reading my blog then you will no doubt love everything she does/wears. Her DIY's are a-ma-zing!

My first picks out of the box were this tribal print maxi and this soft white scarf. I hiked the maxi into a dress and belted it, of course. I've actually been obsessing over my own maxi's in the last few days and have set out on a mission to make them both casual and appropriate for Winter. This one just made it too easy!

Well that's all I've got for now! I'm crossing my fingers that the snow slows down for at least a little while so I can get to a thrift store this week. I need a fix already! haha

Outfit details - Dress/scarf, swapped - Jean jacket, .25 cents (thrifted) - Tights, $? (Wal-Mart old) - Belt, $1.25 (thrifted) - Moccasins, $33 (Wayfair.com old) - Earrings, handmade

Snow Day!

I've got some good news and bad news from yesterday. Good news? IT SNOWED!! (as evident from this set of photos) I couldn't not go out in it and take some snowy photos. I've waited all Winter! These pics were not as much about my outfit (which is the reason it lacks something interesting) it was just about having fun in the cold stuff.

Bad news? I did not get the fit model job. I was awaken to the call from the office and was informed I was a great candidate, BUT, my hips were just a bit different than the measurement they wanted. They said they would keep my info on file in case they ever did need someone like me. But I'm cool with it. I know that God has something better for me! Fingers crossed that maybe it's a real modeling job that includes my face or something. hehe

But still! How lucky are us, Wisconsinites, to get all this awesome snow to play in on Friday the 13th?! (ok, so some may see that as major bad luck. lol not I!)
Are any of you experiencing a case of good luck?

Just look at this perfect snow filled Wisconsin day. *sigh*

Up In The Air

Today No wait.. this entire week has been so awesome so far! Allow me to explain.

On Monday I went in to submit an application for a job I had been hearing about and got a quick interview on the spot. Today I went back for round 2 of my interview. I'm not the greatest at building suspense so I will just let you know - the job was for a plus size fit model! A fit model between 5'6"-5'8" (I'm right in between!) and for a size 18. Too perfect, right?! I own many clothes from this brand and it would be spectacular to work behind the scenes for them. Part 2 of this interview was measurements and it seemed to go.. neutral. I may or may not have it. It's all up in the air!

Besides all that.. I came home and had a package from my aunt that was FULL of jewelry from my [new favorite forever] cousin. Gosh, I have some stylish cousins!
Then my mom and I had lupper (lunch + supper) out on our deck. In January. Wow!

Such a good week so far! :)

Outfit details - Top, $4 (Shop-Ko old) - Vest, $11 (F21 old) - Jeans, $15 (Wal-Mart) - Flats, $7 (K-Mart old) - Jewelry, new stuff from my cousin :)

Our talking thermometer says 85 degrees outside. It was closer to 60. Still good!
